What we stand for
Personal quality assurance
Our sustainable mission
For more than 70 years, our aim has always been to deliver a high-quality service to our customers. Key to this is a genuine commitment to sustainability – working with respect for people and the planet. It’s encouraging to see that our customers increasingly desire sustainable flowers and have specific requirements when it comes to reliable, environmentally friendly production. Together with our growers, we always strive to meet our customers’ needs.
Certification is an important part of the process. GLOBALG.A.P. and GRASP are the minimum requirements for our growers who supply the retail market. We have also launched the Growing Together platform within the L&M Group. Initiatives that fall outside the scope of certification but are sustainable nonetheless are shared with others on this platform. We actively cooperate with our partners to support numerous sustainable innovations in the supply chain. There are four strands to our sustainability ambitions and projects: energy savings, supply chain shortening, packaging and recycling and transport.

A look back through the years
1948
THE FOUNDATION
More than 70 years ago, in 1948, flower buyers Joost Leeuwenburg, Jan Mooten and Frans Kiel found the company KLM’s Bloemen. Several years later, partner Frans Kiel leaves the firm and it continues under the name Leeuwenburg & Mooten.
1979
THE SECOND GENERATION
With an ever expanding customer base and plenty of enthusiasm, the founders prepare the next generation to take over the reins. Some 30 years later, in 1979, the time has finally come: 18-year-old Joost Leeuwenburg joins the company with partner Wil Boogaards. Together, they are determined to become the best in the business.
2007
OUR OWN TULIP
All the hard work of more than half a century is crowned in 2007 with the naming of our own tulip: Lions Glory. It is a great accolade from the sector.
2013
GOING INTERNATIONAL
In 2013, the company is put on the international map under the leadership of Jan Willem Leeuwenburg. This leads to valuable new partnerships, such as Growing Together and Lefloro.
2018
THE THIRD GENERATION
On 1 January 2018, Joost steps down as shareholder and sons Jan Willem, Danny and Lennard take full ownership of the family business.
2018
